I have always felt called to the role of the Healer. Having worked in various health care settings throughout my life I eventually found my niche and gained my university diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy. I developed my experience working in the specialised area of addictions.
I will be offering counselling and psychotherapy session for people who view their life through a spiritual lens. Person-Centred counselling was developed by Carl Rogers and is based on the principles of empathy, congruence and positive regard and I believe is unique to other counselling modalities because it keeps the person at the centre and provides an anchor to the present moment. I use Focusing, a technique based on the theory by Eugene Gendlin that offers that emotions linked to trauma are embedded within the body and can be released through therapy. I also utilise Relational Depth, a concept developed by Dave Mearns that describes a moment of depth in relation between the counsellor and her client.
Spiritual Depth work looks into all aspects of life and aims to foster greater self-awareness and emotional wellbeing through a process of change. I believe that Spiritual Depth is an extension of depth of experience brought into awareness when we access our truest form of expression in the present moment. When we have a depth in relation with our own self. I believe that combining the work of Carl Rogers, Eugene Gendlin and Dave Mearns gives us the conditions, techniques and insight for deeper exploration of the self and greater opportunity for spiritual growth, inspiration and harmony in every day living.
